The new Weaviate Cloud Services is here!

๐Ÿค— Hi there, Weaviate friends!

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ My name is Femke, and I am excited to write this weekโ€™s newsletter. ๐Ÿ—ž๏ธ

๐Ÿ‘ฅ I am taking care of community management and am here to help build strong relations with the Weaviate community.

๐Ÿซถ I look forward to helping maintain a community where we can support each other in achieving our goals with Weaviate. We need to do this (not only) for but as much as with the Weaviate community.

๐Ÿ”” In this newsletter, Iโ€™ll share the latest updates of the last two weeks, upcoming events, and all other exciting things happening at Weaviate.

๐Ÿš€ So, without further ado, letโ€™s dive into the latest updates! Happy reading! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • The console allows direct interaction with the cluster

  • Currently, we support the Google Cloud Platform and a wide selection of regions

    • Azure and AWS are coming soon

  • Choose from 3 different SLA tiers depending on your needs

    • Business

    • Enterprise

    • Business critical

  • Clusters may be set up as highly available

  • Additionally, create 14-day trial sandboxes

If you have not read Abdelโ€™s part 1 on Vamana vs. HNSW - Exploring ANN algorithms (Part 1) we strongly recommend checking this out before diving into the following blogs. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This was the first step in our quest for our new disk-based, low-cost, hyper-scale vector-search index.

Whatโ€™s new:
  1. โœ๏ธ Read HNSW+PQ - Exploring ANN algorithms Part 2.1 by Abdel, โ€“ Learn about implementing HNSW + Product Quantization (PQ) vector compression in Weaviate.

  1. โœ๏ธ Read The Tile Encoder - Exploring ANN algorithms Part 2.2ย by Abdel โ€“ Learn about using the Weaviate Tile Encoder to compress vectors with Product Quantization.

  1. โœ๏ธ Read How GPT4.0 and other Large Language Models Workย by Zain โ€“ A gentle introduction to Large Language Models (LLMs) - how they work and what they learn.

Weaviate introduces Webinar workshops!

๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿ’ป Weaviateโ€™s first(!) webinar workshop with JP, โ€œIntroduction to Weaviate,โ€ is scheduled for the 4th of April at 1-2 pm CET.

๐Ÿ’ฌ We aim to cover the following:

  • How AI language models "understand" text.

  • What is a vector database?

  • How a vector database can help you scale AI models.

  • A hands-on demo with Python, including:

    • Performing vector searches.

    • Using Weaviate's generative search to go beyond data retrieval with GPT-3.

    • Creating your own vector database on the cloud.

๐Ÿ™‹ This will be an interactive workshop where you get to try out Weaviate and ask questions as we go.

๐Ÿ™ We want to make these initial sessions intimate and interactive, so places are limited. Unfortunately, the maximum signup number has been reached for this workshop. However, we would like you to join us during our next workshop!

Did you not get the chance to sign up for our first workshop? No worries!

๐Ÿš€ We plan to organize more workshops to share knowledge, answer questions and connect!

๐Ÿ’ฌ To ensure the workshops are helpful, we ask you to complete a survey to give input on topics, format, and preferred times.

๐Ÿ™‹ Complete the survey and sign up now to stay up to date for future workshops.๐Ÿ‘‡
